The primary objective of this assessment was to evaluate the enterprise capacity of selected mariculture value chains in Kilifi County, Coastal Kenya. This evaluation aimed to guide the development of Business Development Services (BDS) for MSMEs operating in the mariculture sector within the region.
The specific goals of the assessment were:
- To assess the enterprise capacity of MSMEs in the mariculture sector in Kilifi County.
- To identify the BDS training needs of MSMEs in the mariculture sector.
- To recommend targeted BDS interventions to strengthen the capacity of MSMEs in Kilifi County.
Strengthening Hydro-Met and Hazard Monitoring

The primary goal of this project is to evaluate the hydrometeorological (hydromet) network requirements, design an optimized network, and develop comprehensive equipment specifications. Additionally, it focuses on building long-term institutional capacity and creating an operation and maintenance (O&M) plan for the optimized network to support efficient data collection, management, visualization, and analysis for the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR). This will be achieved through a detailed assessment of technical, financial, institutional, and legal factors, ensuring a sustainable solution.
Key Objectives include:
- Assess the equipment and maintenance needs for the hydromet infrastructure in Somalia.
- Develop the technical design of the hydromet network and prepare equipment procurement specifications.
- Create a comprehensive O&M plan for the hydromet network.
- Identify long-term training needs as part of the institutional capacity development plan.
- Provide training to hydrometeorological staff on O&M for hydromet stations.
Capacity Needs Assessment and Development Measures for Farmers in Beledwyne

The primary objective of this assignment was to conduct a rapid assessment of agricultural practices in the context of integrated water resource management. The assessment aimed to identify existing human and structural capacity gaps and recommend targeted interventions to enhance agricultural productivity, improve farmers’ capacities, and build resilience. These interventions were designed to strengthen the overall agricultural sector in Beledwyne, supporting sustainable development and long-term growth.
Short-Term TVET Training in the Benadir Region

This assignment involved the training of 80 participants across five occupational profiles. The training, delivered in the Somali language and based on a pre-developed curriculum, was conducted over a 7-month period.
The following occupational profiles guided the training:
- 15 trainees in car mechanics
- 20 trainees in media design
- 15 trainees in renewable energy (solar installation)
- 15 trainees in plumbing and pipe fitting
- 15 trainees in metalwork and welding
The program aimed to equip participants with practical skills tailored to the local job market, fostering employment opportunities and technical capacity in the Benadir region.
Capacity Building for Women and Youth on Sustainable Agricultural Practices

The primary objective of this assignment was to enhance the skills of women and youth in sustainable water resource management, with a focus on increasing agricultural production. This was achieved through targeted training on ecological relationships and the effective use of water in agriculture.

- Assessing and identifying training needs and capacity gaps.
- Developing a comprehensive training schedule, content, and materials focused on sustainable water use in agriculture and ecological considerations.
- Presenting and validating the training materials with key stakeholders.
- Establishing participant selection criteria and creating a participant list.
- Conducting the trainings, workshops, and seminars.
This initiative aimed to empower women and youth by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable agricultural practices and water resource management.
Developing Entrepreneurship curricula and harmonization of existing curricular and trainer’s manual

The primary objective of this assignment was to design entrepreneurship curricula, harmonize existing content, and identify gaps for enhancement. Additionally, the project aimed to create comprehensive trainer manuals to equip instructors with the necessary tools for effective curriculum delivery.
The specific objectives included:
- Conducting a thorough needs assessment to ensure the curriculum design incorporates practical learning, aligns with industry standards, and meets market demands.
- Reviewing best practices at regional, continental, and global levels, and providing evidence-based recommendations on how the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) can support trainees in achieving self-employment prior to graduation or as they enter the workforce.
