The primary objective of this assignment was to enhance the skills of women and youth in sustainable water resource management, with a focus on increasing agricultural production. This was achieved through targeted training on ecological relationships and the effective use of water in agriculture. This initiative aimed to empower women and youth by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable agricultural practices and water resource management.

Short-Term TVET Training in the Benadir Region

This assignment involved the training of 80 participants across five occupational profiles. The training, delivered in the Somali language and based on a pre-developed curriculum, was conducted over a 7-month period. The program aimed to equip participants with practical skills tailored to the local job market, fostering employment opportunities and technical capacity in the Benadir region.

The assessment aimed to identify existing human and structural capacity gaps and recommend targeted interventions to enhance agricultural productivity, improve farmers’ capacities, and build resilience. These interventions were designed to strengthen the overall agricultural sector in Beledwyne, supporting sustainable development and long-term growth.

Strengthening Hydro-Met and Hazard Monitoring

Client FGS Ministry Of Finance (SCRP)

The primary goal of this project is to evaluate the hydrometeorological (hydromet) network requirements, design an optimized network, and develop comprehensive equipment specifications. Additionally, it focuses on building long-term institutional capacity and creating an operation and maintenance (O&M) plan for the optimized network to support efficient data collection, management, visualization, and analysis for the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR). This will be achieved through a detailed assessment of technical, financial, institutional, and legal factors, ensuring a sustainable solution.

Key Objectives (5)
  1. Assess the equipment and maintenance needs for the hydromet infrastructure in Somalia.
  2. Develop the technical design of the hydromet network and prepare equipment procurement specifications.
  3. Create a comprehensive O&M plan for the hydromet network.
  4. Identify long-term training needs as part of the institutional capacity development plan.
  5. Provide training to hydrometeorological staff on O&M for hydromet stations.

Enterprise Capacity Assessment and Business Training Curriculum Development for Aquaculture Value Chain Actors in the Coastal Region for the YISA Programme

The primary objective of this assessment was to evaluate the enterprise capacity of selected mariculture value chains in Kilifi County, Coastal Kenya. This evaluation aimed to guide the development of Business Development Services (BDS) for MSMEs operating in the mariculture sector within the region.

  2. To identify the BDS training needs of MSMEs in the mariculture sector.
